KOWLOON SHOPHOUSE (WIP)

Concept by Owen Yeung

This work-in-progress is an Unreal level recreation of a shophouse in Kowloon Walled City in 1980s, based on a concept by Owen Yeung. This is a particularly heavy piece to work on due to the number of props to be made, but I did get some assistance from Owen who was nice enough to send me massive reference sheets he used when creating the original concept. These props are tricky due to them being really obscure outside of Hong Kong, to the point even searching for references on Google and Bing Images might not yield desired results. Of course, in order to give it the authentic old Hong Kong look, I had to get the details down to the letter, and I definitely had fun doing it, but as of now, I'm still working on getting the canned foods to look right and I may need to make it from scratch with Illustrator and Photoshop. Adding to the difficulty is that a good number of these cans use older label designs that are even harder to find references for nowadays.
