SERIUM SECTOR ASSAULT RIFLE

This is the first part of my post-graduation project. I loved working on props and weapons and so I decided to look more something new to work on by scouring ArtStation. After I was done modeling it, a friend of mine asked if I could send him the model to work on animation states as one would in a first person shooter and that gave me an idea. I decided to then put this gun in an indoor gun range environment in Unreal as part of my Rookies Awards.
Red Dot Sight
One new thing I learned while working on this piece was how to create a red dot sight as you would see in first person games, turns out it's as easy as simply taking the reticle texture and adding a bump offset node in the material editor to give it a parallax effect. I took it a bit further by also creating what's known as a rainbow cloud, which are 3 different noise patterns plugged into the RGB channels, which are then use to break up the emissive of the reticle and give it a slight flicker.
